About Us

Kings Park Primary School is located northwest from the city of Melbourne in the suburb of St Albans. The school was established in 1985 and currently has 540 students who learn in 24 classes under the guidance of 35 teachers and approximately 14 support staff led by principal Doug Conway. Eighty percent of students come from a non-English speaking background (NESB). The core school building is a single storey brick structure which facilities include a well-stocked Library, Art/Craft room, Performing Arts room, Computer Laboratory, and a multi-purpose hall. The school is surrounded by attractive well-kept gardens which features our own vegetable and indigenous gardens. Grassed and treed areas are available for both active and passive recreation. Excellent facilities are available for sports and games including two ovals, four full sized adventure playgrounds, a basketball court, and a netball court. The school offers a comprehensive and sequential seven-year developmental program based on the Essential Learning standards. The core curriculum is supported and enhanced by outdoor education activities, excursions, camps, life education, and sport. Students also participate in a variety of sports with other schools in the Deer Park area and inter-school activities include cross-country, athletics, and swimming. A Language Other Than English (Japanese) program, commencing with emphasis on cultural awareness in the junior classes and extending to formal instructional classes in the senior school, is also an integral component of the school’s curriculum.
